Rutledge was founded on the rail line stop here that ran from Augusta to Atlanta. Today the entire town is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The town square has not changed much in the last 100 years and is frequently the backdrop for many movies filmed in town and around the county. As the gateway into Hard Labor Creek State Park, many tourists visit the town each week. It is located between Social Circle on the west and Madison on the east. It is located in Morgan County in Middle Georgia.
